Busy End of the day for M.R.F.C.
Mon. Feb 22nd 2010

Members of M.R.F.C. ran 9 calls today after 4 pm.

The day started with an MVA in the 300 block of North Morton Ave. Utility 11 responded and controlled all hazards.

The company was then dispatched to relocate to Station 18 (Folsom) while they operated at a house fire on 7th Ave. 13-1 (T. Kopp) made the response. While enroute, 13-1 witnessed an MVA. 13-1 assisted EMS with patient care and controlled all hazards. The company stood by at Station 18 for a little while until being released.

While members were returning from drill at Station 14, they came across an active wire fire across from 200 Yale Ave in Morton. 11-1, Command 13, and 14-2 blocked off the area and PECO was notified. While operating at that scene, a transformer exploded on Church Road. 11-1 responded over and PECO was again notified for this issue.

Fireboard then notified 13's command of 3 more wires calls in the area: School and Baker Streets, Morton Ave and Kedron Ave, and the Church Road incident. 13-1 (T. Kopp) and Utility 11 (D. Kemp) made the response and no wires were found down, however the whole area was without power. 13-1 and Utility 11 stood by in the area until PECO arrived on location in the 200 block of Yale. At that time, all companies were released and the scene was handed over to PECO.

Once again, the company was dispatched to the area of School Street and Woodland Ave for wires in the area. Utility 11 and 11-1 made the response to the area. 13-13 proceeded over to the 200 block of Yale Ave again and spoke with PECO who stated they were having an issue shutting the power off for the transformers that were effected. PECO requested Yale Ave shut down between Wildwood Ave and Beech Street. Units on scene at Woodland and School found no hazards and were advised to respond over to Yale Ave again to assist with traffic control. The company remained on scene for a short time while PD placed barricades up and the company was made available.

After finally clearing 200 Yale again, the company was dispatched to the 100 block of Bridge Street for an assist the public. Due to the power outage, the residents basement flooded. Crews assisted in removing the water and went available.
